Fair Housing Maintenance English.png

This virtual session will be presented in English ONLY

Presented by: Ruben Rivera-Jackman

This training has been developed to provide a basic overview of federal and State fair housing laws, the local protected classes, and the enforcement of fair housing laws.

Maintenance personnel team members are often the eyes and ears for affordable and subsidized housing providers. They engage with residents and enter their apartments to complete work orders. They often are the first to encounter resident issues and concerns.

Other topics that will be covered include the Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, disabilities and its definition, the process of handling requests such as assistance animals and parking, and then covers hoarding and mental disabilities. The goal is to provide maintenance personnel guidance regarding addressing and reporting concerns and keeping themselves safe and avoid any fair housing complaints.

After successfully completing this training module, participants will be able to:

  • Enhance their understanding of Federal and State Fair Housing Laws.

  • Recognize their role in adhering to and maintaining Fair Housing regulations at their properties.

  • Understand the importance of providing good customer service to avoid fair housing complaints.

  • Identify National, State and Local Fair Housing Resources
