Now offering as an online course!

Due to COVID 19 we cannot provide the 3-day in-person class. Instead, the course will follow the 1-Day CPO intensive agenda and be taught in four 3-hour Interactive Zoom meeting training sessions over two consecutive days.

The dates and times are as follows:
June 17: 9 a.m.–12 noon and 1 p.m.–4 p.m.
June 18: 9 a.m.–12 noon and 1 p.m.–4 p.m.

Following the training, you will complete a 4-hour online certification exam that must be taken within 3 weeks of completing the course. You will receive special instructions for accessing the exam.  Participants who successfully pass the exam will receive a CPO certificate and lapel pin. All CPOs are listed in an annual, national certification directory. CPO is a requirement for NAHMA’s National Affordable Housing Professional (NAHP®) certification program.

Each participant will receive the Zoom meeting credentials and an electronic copy of the 4350.3 Handbook and the CPO course materials via email two (2) business days prior to the course. You will use the 4350.3 and CPO manual and materials during the four (4) training sessions.

Attendees should be prepared with a computer/laptop (webcam & microphone optional, but preferred for best interactive ability), pencils and highlighter for the course.

Please note: Recording is not permitted. The class will not be recorded. Attendees will not have the option of viewing a recorded version if any sessions or parts of sessions are missed.

A Comprehensive Course for Managers of Affordable Housing

INCLUDING LOW-INCOME HOUSING TAX CREDIT DEVELOPMENTS

The Certified Professional of Occupancy course is a comprehensive program offered by the National Affordable Housing Management Association for property management staff in affordable developments, including LIHTC. It is the only occupancy course that covers the HUD 4350.3 Handbook in its entirety, with specific handbook references cited in the margins of the course text.

Each participant will receive a copy of the 4350.3 Handbook at this course. The two and a half-day program is composed of occupancy focused instruction. Participants will receive a voucher from their hosting AHMA to take the CPO exam independently on their own at their home office, or property. Students that successfully pass the exam will receive a CPO certificate and lapel pin. All CPOs will be listed in an online national certification directory. The CPO is a requirement for NAHMA’s National Affordable Housing Professional (NAHP®) certification program. Fees and reasonable expenses for the course are an approved project expense for front-line staff. It is recommended that course attendees have a basic knowledge of the HUD 4350.3 Handbook prior to registration. It is recommended that attendees bring a highlighter, a calculator and Post It notes or flags to the course.
