Trainer: Heather Staggs, President, S.T.A.R. Momentum Compliance Consulting, Inc.

The obligation to conduct annual recertifications for sites funded through HUD’s Multi-Family Housing Programs and/or Tax Credits continues during the COVID-19 pandemic. The question becomes how to effectively complete annual recertifications, including required information security measures, while maintaining the health and safety of staff and residents and complying with required and recommended social distancing initiatives. Whether your site office has remained open or staff is mainly working from home with a skeleton crew at the office, everyone is facing challenges to fulfill the obligation to conduct annual recertifications.

During this webinar we will discuss HUD’s Office of Multi-Family Housing’s continuously updated guidance on how to stay compliant, as well as guidance from state monitoring agencies for the tax credit program. We will also provide practical solutions for completing the annual recertification process regardless of your current business operations. Topics will include conducting interviews, information security (including EIV data for HUD sites), acceptable forms of verification and how to obtain them, electronic vs. “wet” signatures, and what it means to use “extenuating circumstances” to complete an annual certification for HUD purposes.
